As an award-winning writer-director, J. Scott works with fellow artists in his community to create innovative films in the drama, thriller, and psychological horror genres, which typically depict ordinary lives, especially of children and families, often with a touch of comedy, utilizing a stylistic palette of painterly beauty, rapturous music, and rapid movement, in homage to filmmakers such as Wong Kar-Wai and Martin Scoresese.
Education, Journalism, Activism, Entrpreneurship
A former reporter at the Chicago Tribune, J. Scott has published more than a hundred non-fiction stories on books, art, crime, courts, music, politics, and more. As a serial entrepreneur, he has helped manage a nonprofit that sponsors educational opportunities for students of color, founded an educational services company, and co-founded a green energy storage company named as a minority-owned federal government partner. He is a proud queer moderate liberal political writer, policy thinker, and activist.
